ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT Introduction Knee joint injury is a common sports injury and how to speed up the recovery process is a concern for all athletes. Objective Determine whether aquatic sports rehabilitation nursing can accelerate the rehabilitation process of knee joint injuries. Methods Thirty patients with knee ligament or meniscal injury were divided into an aquatic sports group and a control group. The control group assumed general recovery measures, while the aquatic exercise group was added another 8 weeks of rehabilitation nursing with aquatic exercises. The evolution of the degree of knee joint pain, knee joint range of motion, knee joint muscle strength and other indicators before and after the experiment were compared. Results After 8 weeks of intervention, pain and activities of daily living in the aquatic exercise group improved significantly compared with those before the experiment; the degree of recovery from knee joint injury in the aquatic exercise group was significantly better than that in the control group, and knee joint flexion range of motion, flexor and extensor muscle strength, and other indicators in the aquatic exercise group were significantly better than those in the control group. Conclusion Aquatic rehabilitation exercise can accelerate the recovery process of patients with knee joint injuries. Level of evidence II; Therapeutic studies - investigation of treatment outcomes.


RESUMO Introdução A lesão articular do joelho é uma lesão esportiva corriqueira e a maneira de acelerar o processo de recuperação é uma preocupação para todos os atletas. Objetivo Determinar se a enfermagem de reabilitação esportiva aquática pode acelerar o processo de reabilitação das lesões nas articulações do joelho. Métodos Trinta pacientes com lesão ligamentar ou meniscal do joelho foram divididos em grupo de esportes aquáticos e grupo de controle. O grupo de controle assumiu medidas gerais de recuperação, enquanto ao grupo de exercícios aquáticos acrescentou-se mais 8 semanas de enfermagem de reabilitação com exercícios aquáticos. Comparou-se a evolução do grau de dor na articulação do joelho, a amplitude de movimento da articulação do joelho, a força muscular da articulação do joelho e outros indicadores antes e depois da experiência. Resultados Após 8 semanas de intervenção, a dor e as atividades das atividades de vida diária no grupo de exercícios aquáticos melhoraram significativamente em comparação com aquelas antes do experimento; o grau de recuperação da lesão da articulação do joelho no grupo de exercícios aquáticos foi significativamente melhor do que o do grupo controle, e a amplitude de flexão da articulação do joelho, a força muscular flexora e extensora e outros indicadores no grupo de exercícios aquáticos foram significativamente melhores do que os do grupo controle. Conclusão O exercício de reabilitação aquática pode acelerar o processo de recuperação de pacientes com lesões articulares no joelho. RESUMEN Introducción La lesión de la articulación de la rodilla es una lesión deportiva común y acelerar el proceso de recuperación es una preocupación para todos los atletas. Objetivo Determinar si la enfermería de rehabilitación deportiva acuática puede acelerar el proceso de rehabilitación de las lesiones articulares de rodilla. Métodos Treinta pacientes con lesiones de ligamentos o meniscos de rodilla se dividieron en un grupo de deportes acuáticos y un grupo de control. El grupo de control asumió medidas generales de recuperación, mientras que al grupo de ejercicios acuáticos se le añadieron 8 semanas adicionales de enfermería de rehabilitación con ejercicios acuáticos. Se comparó la evolución del grado de dolor de la articulación de la rodilla, la amplitud de movimiento de la articulación de la rodilla, la fuerza muscular de la articulación de la rodilla y otros indicadores antes y después del experimento. Resultados Tras 8 semanas de intervención, el dolor y las actividades de la vida diaria en el grupo de ejercicio acuático mejoraron significativamente en comparación con los anteriores al experimento; el grado de recuperación de la lesión de la articulación de la rodilla en el grupo de ejercicio acuático fue significativamente mejor que el del grupo de control, y la amplitud de la flexión de la articulación de la rodilla, la fuerza muscular flexora y extensora y otros indicadores en el grupo de ejercicio acuático fueron significativamente mejores que los del grupo de control. Conclusión El ejercicio de rehabilitación acuática puede acelerar el proceso de recuperación de los pacientes con lesiones articulares de rodilla. Abstract Introduction: High mobility group box 1 protein participates in the pathogenesis of allergic rhinitis. Activation of the inflammasome can mediate the release of high mobility group box 1. The role of the absent in melanoma 2 inflammasome in allergic rhinitis remains unclear. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the function of absent in melanoma 2 inflammasome in murine allergic rhinitis and the interaction between high mobility group box 1 and the absent in melanoma 2 inflammasome. Methods: A murine allergic rhinitis model was established using twenty Balb/c mice. Expression of the components of the absent in melanoma 2 inflammasome: absent in melanoma 2, apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing a CARD (Asc), caspase-1 p20, and additional nod-like receptor family pyrin domain containing 3 (Nlrp3) were detected by western blotting during allergic rhinitis. Alterations of absent in melanoma 2, caspase-1, and high mobility group box 1 after ovalbumin challenge were demonstrated by immunohistochemistry. TdT-mediated dUTP Nick end labeling, TUNEL assay, and cleavage of caspase-3 and PARP-1 were used for the observation of pyroptosis. Results: Eosinophilia and goblet cell infiltration were observed in the nasal mucosa of mice in the allergic rhinitis group. Absent in melanoma 2, Asc, and caspase-1 p20 increased after ovalbumin exposure while Nlrp3 did not. High mobility group box 1 was released in the nasal mucosa of allergic rhinitis mice. TUNEL-positive cells increased in the epithelium and laminae propria, whereas cleavage of caspase-3 and PARP-1 was not observed. Conclusions: The absent in melanoma 2 inflammasome was activated and pyroptosis may occur in the nasal mucosa after ovalbumin treatment. These may contribute to the translocation of high mobility group box 1 and the development of allergic rhinitis.


Resumo Introdução: A proteína do grupo Box-1 de alta mobilidade participa da patogênese da rinite alérgica. A ativação do inflamassoma pode mediar a liberação de proteína do grupo Box-1 de alta mobilidade. O papel do inflamassoma ausente no melanoma 2 na rinite alérgica permanece incerto. Objetivo: Investigar a função do inflamassoma ausente no melanoma 2 em um modelo murino de rinite alérgica e a interação entre a proteína do grupo Box-1 de alta mobilidade e o inflamassoma ausente no melanoma 2. Método: Um modelo murino de rinite alérgica foi estabelecido com 20 camundongos Balb/c. A expressão dos componentes do inflamassoma ausente no melanoma 2, da proteína speck-like associada à apoptose com CARD (Asc), da caspase-1 p20 e do domínio de pirina da família NLR adicional com 3 (Nlrp3) foi detectada por western blotting durante a rinite alérgica. Alterações de inflamassoma ausente no melanoma 2, na caspase-1 e na proteína do grupo Box-1 de alta mobilidade após o teste de provocação com ovalbumina foram demonstradas por imuno-histoquímica. O ensaio dUTP Nick-End Labeling mediado por TdT, TUNEL e clivagem de caspase-3 e PARP-1 foram usados para a observação de piroptose. Resultados: Eosinofilia e infiltração de células caliciformes foram observadas na mucosa nasal de camundongos do grupo rinite alérgica. Inflamassoma ausente no melanoma 2, Asc e caspase-1 p20 aumentou após a exposição à ovalbumina, enquanto Nlrp3 não aumentou. A proteína do grupo Box-1 de alta mobilidade foi liberada na mucosa nasal de camundongos com rinite alérgica. As células TUNEL-positivas aumentaram no epitélio e na lâmina própria, enquanto a clivagem da caspase-3 e a PARP-1 não foram observadas. Conclusão: O inflamassoma ausente no melanoma 2 foi ativado e pode ocorrer piroptose na mucosa nasal após o tratamento com ovalbumina. Esses fatores podem contribuir para a translocação de proteína do grupo Box-1 de alta mobilidade e o desenvolvimento de rinite alérgica.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To analyze Internet behaviors of children and adolescents and their influencing factors, and to provide scientific basis for health education guidance and prevention measures.@*Methods@#A stratified cluster sampling method was used. From January to June 2019, 30 955 primary school students in 16 provinces (municipalities), from eastern, central, and western economic zones of China were selected to conduct a questionnaire survey, regarding general demographics, diet and exercise, tobacco, alcohol and sleep, Internet and electronics usage, etc.@*Results@#Among them, 43.1% of students had never been online with girls (44.7%) higher than boys (41.8%)(χ2=21.04, P<0.01); 1.3% of students reported online time for more than 4 hours a day, boys were significantly higher than girls(χ2=15.87, P<0.01); Internet addiction was detected in 2.4% of elementary school students, with boys (3.0%) higher than girls(1.7%)(χ2=331.77, P<0.01), and the trend increases with grade. With sixth grade (3.3%) were significantly higher than children from the first grade (0.8%) and other grades(χ2=163.96, P<0.01). Children’s tendency to Internet addiction was 11.9%, of which boys were 13.0% and girls were 10.6%, boys were significantly higher than girls(χ2=117.66, P<0.01). Pearson correlation analysis revealed that, after controlling gender age, boarding school, family relationship, single parents and regrouped families, smoking, drinking sugary drinks, eating fried foods, and left-behind were positively related to Intenet addiction(r=0.06, 0.07, 0.27, 0.44, 0.07, 0.11, 0.09, P<0.01), while medium and high intensity sports, effective physical education, health education in school, AIDS education and parental restrictions on TV and computer games, were negatively associated with internet addiction(r=-0.74, -0.65, -0.04, -0.05, -0.63, P<0.01).@*Conclusion@#The internet addiction of Chinese primary school students is common and increases by year. High-intensity, high-density sports, effective physical education, and health education could help prevent Internet addiction among children.

ABSTRACT Gracilariopsis lemaneiformis is a type of red alga that contains seaweed polysaccharide agar. In this study, a novel non-agar seaweed polysaccharide fraction named GCP (short of crude polysaccharide obtained from Gracilariopsis lemaneiformis) was isolated from Gracilariopsis lemaneiformis. Structural analysis showed that GCP shows triple helical chain conformation when dissolved in water and has many branches and long side chains. Also, 1→3 linkage is the major linkage and the sugar structures are galactopyranose configurations linked by β-type glycosidic linkages. Two macromolecular substance fractions (GCP-1 and GCP-2) were purified by DEAE Sepharose Fast Flow column chromatography. Moreover, a splenocyte damage assay and splenocyte proliferation assay were used to analyse the bioactivities of GCP, GCP-1 and GCP-2. It was demonstrated that polysaccharides could protect splenocyte damaged by H2O2; GCP-2 shows a greatest protection rate, that is, 92.8%, which significantly enhanced the splenocyte proliferation, and GCP showed the highest proliferation rate, 9.30%. The results suggested that this type of novel non-agar polysaccharide displayed remarkable antioxidant and immunomodulatory activities and early alkali treatment could decrease the activities. It may represent a potential material for health food and clinical medicines.

ABSTRACT

Nasal polyp (NP) is a common chronic inflammatory disease of the nasal cavity and sinuses.Although some authors have suggested that NP is related to inflammatory factors such as interleukin (IL)-1β,IL-5,IL-8,granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF),tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α,and IL-17,the mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis and progression of NP remain obscure.This study investigated the expression and distribution of IL-17 and syndecan-1 in NP,and explored the roles of these two molecules in the pathogenesis of eosinophilic chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (Eos CRSwNP) and non-Eos CRSwNP.Real-time PCR and immunohistochemistry were used to detect the expression of IL-17 and syndecan-1 in samples [NP,unciform process (UP) from patients with CRS,and middle turbinate (MT) from healthy controls undergoing pituitary tumor surgery].The results showed that the expression levels of IL-17 and syndecan-1 were upregulated in both NP and UP tissues,but both factors were higher in NP tissues than in UP tissues.There was no significant difference in IL-17 levels between the Eos CRSwNP and non-Eos CRSwNP samples,and syndecan-1 levels were increased in the non-Eos CRSwNP tissues as compared with those in Eos CRSwNP tissues.In all of the groups,there was a close correlation between the expression of IL-17 and syndecan-1 in nasal mucosa epithelial cells,glandular epithelial cells,and inflammatory cells,suggesting that IL-17 and syndecan-1 may play a role,and interact with each other,in the pathogenesis ofnon-Eos CRSwNP.

ABSTRACT

Purpose We investigated the characteristics and management of patients with intravenous misplacement of a nephrostomy tube. Materials and Methods Between July 2007 and July 2013, 4148 patients with urolithiasis underwent percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) in our hospital. Intravenous misplacement of a nephrostomy tube occurred in two of these patients. Another patient with intravenous misplacement of a nephrostomy tube, who underwent PCNL in another hospital, was transferred to our hospital. The data of the three patients were retrospectively analyzed. Results The incidence of intravenous misplacement of a nephrostomy tube following PCNL was 0.5% (2/4148) at our hospital. A solitary kidney was present in one of the three patients. The tip of tube was located into the inferior vena cava (IVC) in two patients and into the renal vein in one patient. All three patients were successfully managed with strict bed rest, intravenous antibiotics and one-step (one patient) or two-step (two patients) tube withdrawal under close monitoring. None of the patients underwent antithrombotic therapy. The original operations were performed successfully under close observation in two patients and changed to another operation in one patient. All patients were discharged uneventfully. Conclusions The incidence of intravenous misplacement of a nephrostomy tube following PCNL is 0.5% at our hospital. Intravenous nephrostomy tube misplacement is an uncommon complication of PCNL. A solitary kidney may render patients susceptible to this complication. Most patients may be managed conservatively with strict bed rest, intravenous antibiotics and one-step or two-step tube withdrawal under close monitoring. .

ABSTRACT

To investigate the protective effects of eplerenone on adriamycin-induced renal injury and the possible mechanisms involved,36 male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into control group,adriamycin nephropathy (AN) group and eplerenone-treated group (100 mg·kg-1·d-1 eplerenone).Blood pressure,24-h urinary protein,serum potassium,sodium and creatinine were measured 28 days after adriamycin injection (a single tail intravenous injection of 6.5 mg/kg adriamycin).The morphological changes of renal tissues were observed by light and electron microscopy.lmmunohistochemistry and Western blotting were performed to examine the expression of TGF-β1 and desmin in renal cortex.The results showed that 28 days after adriamycin injection,there were no significant changes in the level of serum potassium,sodium,creatinine concentrations and blood pressure values in the rats of the three groups.Meanwhile,the 24-h proteinuria excretion in the AN group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P<0.01),but that in the eplerenone-treated group was substantially reduced when compared with that in the AN group (P<0.05).Mild mesangial cell proliferation and matrix expansion,diffuse deformation and confluence of foot processes in podocytes were found in the AN group.By contrast,rats in the eplerenone-treated group exhibited obvious attenuation of these morphological lesions.The protein expression of TGF-β1 and desmin in the AN group was markedly up-regulated in contrast to that in the control group (P<0.01),whereas that in the eplerenone-treated group was much lower than in the AN group (P<0.05).It was concluded that eplerenone may ameliorate the proteinuria and the development of pathological alteration in adriamycin-induced nephropathy presumably via the inhibition of cytokine release,and restore the morphology of podocytes independent of its blood pressure-lowing effects.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To observe the early bone integration of oral implants after injection of exogenous nerve growth factor (NGF) and investigate the effects of NGF on peri-implant osseointegration.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Twelve New Zealand white rabbits were used in this study to establish bi-mandible implant model. Then local injection of 1 µg NGF was given on the right side of the mandible as experimental group and normal saline only was injected on the left side as control group once a day for seven days. The rabbits were respectively sacrificed at 2, 4 and 8 weeks after surgery. The implant-bone grinding samples were prepared and stained by toluidine blue for general observation, X-ray, histology and bone histomorphometry analysis.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The density of the new bone around implants at 2 and 4 weeks was lower than normal bone. Compared with the control group, the quantity of new bone and bone-implant contact ratio significantly increased in the experimental group. At 8 weeks, the new bone density in both groups was similar to the normal bone. In the experimental group, the haversian system was observed. Bone contact ratio was significantly different between experimental and control group at 2 and 4 weeks, but similar at 8 weeks.[control group at 2 weeks (26.67 ± 3.88)%, 4 weeks (52.59 ± 5.07)% and 8 weeks (97.33 ± 6.75)%, experimental group at 2 weeks (42.24 ± 6.67)%, 4 weeks (72.25 ± 6.30)% and 8 weeks (99.15 ± 4.68)%].</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>Applying exogenous NGF in the early phase could accelerate the formation and maturation of trabecular bone around the implants and shorten the period of osseointegration. Nerve growth factor could promote osseointegration in the early stage of oral implantation.</p>

ABSTRACT

To investigate the effects of albumin on the production of matrix metalloproteinases-2 (MMP-2) and matrix metalioproteinases-9 (MMP-9) in podocytes. Podocytes were treated with bovine serum albumin (BSA) at the concentration of 0.1,0.5,1,2 g/L,respectively. Conditioned media were harvested 12,24,48 and 72 h after the treatment. The expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 was assayed by gelatin zymography,RT-PCR and Western blotting analysis. Our results showed that in comparison with the control group,BSA increased the expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 mRNA and protein in a dose-and time-dependent manner (P<0.05). Meanwhile,the enzymatic activities of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in the culture supernatants of podocytes were also increased (P<0.05). It is concluded that albumin up-regulated the expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 at gene and protein levels in a time-and dose-dependent manner.

ABSTRACT

This study examined the effect of sulodexide on podocyte injury in rats with adriamycin nephropathy (AN). A total of 36 healthy male SD rats were randomly assigned to three groups:control group,AN group and sulodexide treatment group. Rat models of AN were established by a single tail intravenous injection of adriamycin (6.5 mg/kg) in both AN group and sulodexide treatment group. Sulodexide (10 mg/kg) was administered the rats in the treatment group once daily by garage from the fast day of model establishment until the 14th day or the 28th day. Samples of 24-h urine and renal cortex tissues were harvested at day 14,28 after the model establishment. Excretion of 24-h urinary protein was measured by Coomassie brilliant blue method. The pathological changes in renal tissues were observed by light microscopy and electron microscopy respectively. Heparanase mRNA was detected by RT-PCR. Expressions of desmin,CD2AP and heparanase were determined by immunohistological staining. The results showed that the expressions of heparanase mRNA and proteinwere increased in the glomeruli of AN rats at day 14 and 28 after the model establishment,which was accompanied by the increased expression of desmin and CD2AP. The mRNA and protein expression of heparanase was decreased in the sulodexide-treated rats as compared with AN rats at day 14 and 28. And,the protein expression of desmin and CD2AP was reduced as with heparanase in the sulodexide-treated rats. Proteinuria and podocyte foot process effacement were alleviated in the AN rats after sulodexide treatment. There was a positive correlation between the expression of heparanase and the expression of desmin and CD2AP (as well as 24-h urinary protein excretion). It was concluded that increased heparanase is involved in podocyte injury. Sulodexide can maintain and restore podocyte morphology by inhibiting the expression of heparanase in AN.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To observe the alterations of saliva nitrate and nitrite level in patients with oral candidiasis.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Parotid saliva and whole saliva were collected from 33 patients and 34 healthy volunteers. Concentrations of nitrate and nitrite in saliva were determined by high-performance liquid chromatography. Follow-up observation was performed on 10 patients after treatment. The data were statistically analyzed with independent-samples t test or paired-samples t test at alpha = 0.05.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>There was significant increase of the concentrations and secretion rate of parotid saliva nitrate in patient group as compared with controls: (49.70 +/- 0.50) vs (21.51 +/- 0.60) mg/L (t = 2.692, P = 0.009) and (27.71 +/- 0.50) vs (12.55 +/- 0.60) microg/min (t = 2.554, P = 0.013), respectively. Significantly increased concentrations and secretion rate of nitrate and nitrite [nitrate: (6.46 +/- 0.94) vs (1.11 +/- 0.70) mg/L (t = 3.792, P = 0.000); nitrite: (8.48 +/- 0.58) vs (3.39 +/- 0.53) mg/L (t = 2.888, P = 0.005); nitrate secretion rate: (10.57 +/- 0.91) vs (2.10 +/- 0.74) microg/min (t = 3.464, P= 0.001); nitrite secretion rate: (13.91 +/- 0.55) vs (6.42 +/- 0.58) microg/min (t = 2.397, P = 0.020)] were revealed in whole saliva of patients group. Significantly decreased nitrate and nitrite levels were also observed in patients after treatment, especially the changes of parotid saliva nitrate secretion rate [(37.50 +/- 0.50) vs (14.34 +/- 0.64) microg/min (t = 3.142, P = 0.012)], whole saliva nitrate [(14.29 +/- 1.01) vs (2.59 +/- 1.03) mg/L (t = 3.475, P = 0.007)] and whole saliva nitrate secretion rate [(25.97 +/- 0.93) vs (4.12 +/- 1.00) microg/min (t = 3.922, P = 0.003)].</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The present study revealed the significant increase of salivary nitrate and nitrite level in patients with oral candidiasis is considered to be associated with the host defense reaction.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>AIM</b>To evaluate the effect of single or dual field irradiation (IR) with the same dose on damage to miniature pig parotid glands.</p><p><b>METHODOLOGY</b>Sixteen miniature pigs were divided into two IR groups (n=6) and a control group (n=4). The irradiation groups were subjected to 20 Gy X-radiation to one parotid gland using single-field or dual-field modality by linear accelerator. The dose-volume distributions between two IR groups were compared. Saliva from parotid glands and blood were collected at 0, 4, 8 and 16 weeks after irradiation. Parotid glands were removed at 16 weeks to evaluate tissue morphology.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The irradiation dose volume distributions were significantly different between single and dual field irradiation groups (t=4.177, P=0.002), although dose volume histogramin (DVH) indicated the equal maximal dose in parotid glands. Saliva flow rates from IR side decreased dramatically at all time points in IR groups, especially in dual field irradiation group. The radiation caused changes of white blood cell count in blood, lactate dehydrogenase and amylase in serum, calcium, potassium and amylase in saliva. Morphologically, more severe radiation damage was found in irradiated parotid glands from dual field irradiation group than that from single field irradiation group.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Data from this large animal model demonstrated that the radiation damage from the dual field irradiation was more severe than that of the single field irradiation at the same dose, suggesting that dose-volume distribution is an important factor in evaluation of the radiobiology of parotid glands.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the prevalence and risk factors of dentine hypersensitivity of young people in Chengdu city.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>The dentine hypersensitivity of 741 cases aged 18-35 living in Chengdu city were surveyed with questionnaire and oral examination by random collection during June to July in 2008. The relative risk factors to dentine hypersensitivity were analyzed.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>128 cases (17.27%) were diagnosed as dentine hypersensitivity. The prevalence of dentine hypersensitivity was higher among female than male (P<0.01). Cold was the most common stimulus for dentine hypersensitivity (62.80%). The most common affected tooth was the right maxillary first premolar (15.51%). Acid regurgitation, carbonated beverage, hard toothbrush type and heavy toothbrushing force were risk factors to dentine hypersensitivity.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The prevalence of dentine hypersensitivity of Chengdu city's young people is widespread. Acid and incorrect toothbrushing methods can cause dentine hypersensitivity. The correct protective measure to dentine hypersensitivity should be publicized.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To evaluate the effects of a solitary megadose protocol of ionizing radiation (IR) to parotid gland on the structured and function changes of bilateral parotid glands in miniature pig.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Fourteen minipigs were subjected to either 15 or 20 Gy to one parotid gland with a linear accelerator, while another four minipigs served as non-IR controls. Salivary flow rates and salivary chemistries were measured pre-IR, and 4 and 16 weeks post-IR. A quantitative assessment of gland weight and acinar area, and detailed serum chemistry and hematological analyses, were also performed.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Parotid gland weights were significantly decreased in the 15 and 20 Gy groups at 4 and 16 weeks post-IR. The acinar cell area in glands of both IR groups was significantly reduced. Parotid flow rates decreased by 60% with 15 Gy at 16 weeks post-IR. In the 20 Gy group, salivary flow rates were reduced by 80% at 16 weeks post-IR. Additionally, parotid flow rates significantly reduced in contralateral glands with 20 Gy at 16 weeks, while structure and weight did not changes in parotid glands.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Structural changes in salivary gland parenchyma occurred relatively early after IR, while the alterations in salivary output were relatively delayed. Further, reductions in salivary flow were not proportional to acinar cell area loss. There isn't a significant structured change of contralateral glands, but significant reduction of parotid flow rate at this time.</p>

OBJECTIVE:To study the enhancement effect of dipentene in the transdermal absorption of tinidazole.METHODS:In vitro,by means of traditional method to compare the enhancement effect of dipentene with azone at difference concentrations in the transdermal absorption of tinidazole.RESULTS:andCONCLUSION:It was showed that various concentrations of transdermal enhancers could promote absorption of tinidazole in different degrees and 4% Azone and 3%dipentene were the most effective.
